Can You Make A Virus Shawl With 1 Mandala Cake
We crocheters were talking about the virus way earlier anyone else. No, not that virus…the virus stitch! This ever multiplying, growing crochet stitch is aptly named for reasons we know all too well at present! But regardless of the potentially morbid implications of the name, the virus stitch is the perfect crochet run up for a shawl.
I decided to write my own instructions for a virus shawl and practice a little video tutorial because I wanted to provide quick, to-the-bespeak directions so y'all can master this impressive, relaxing stitch.
You lot tin can utilise any yarn you'd like for this design, merely I had one cake of Lion Brand'south Shawl-In-A-Cake and I wanted to encounter exactly how much shawl one cake would take me! And then if you desire a shawl that looks exactly like mine, catch one cake in the colorway Om Opal
Materials: Category four worsted weight yarn like Lion Brand'south Shawl In A Cake
Tools: 6mm US I nine crochet hook
Starting Chain
Concatenation 10 and slip stitch into your offset chain to join in the round.
Row ane
Chain 3 (counts as a sew together) and make 19 more double crochets into the ch 10 ring from the previous row. (20 stitches total)
Row ii
Chain iii (counts as a stitch), turn, and make 1 double crochet in each stitch from the previous row and into the top of your starting chain iii from the previous row. (20 stitches full)
Row three
Chain 4 (counts as a double crochet and concatenation i), turn, then *double crochet in the side by side sew together and chain 1*, repeat betwixt ** for each sew and terminate with a double crochet in the top of your turning ch3 from the previous row. (20 sts, 19 ch1 spaces)
Row 4
Concatenation ten (counts as double crochet and concatenation vii), unmarried crochet in the 2nd chain 1 space of the row, *chain iv, skip a chain space and single crochet in the adjacent infinite* repeat betwixt ** twice to make a total of 3 chain 4 spaces.
Then, chain 7 skip a space, unmarried crochet in the next space and so repeat, chain 7, skip a space, unmarried crochet into the next chain one infinite.
*Chain 4, skip a chain infinite and unmarried crochet in the next space* echo between ** twice to make a full of 3 chain 4 spaces. Finally chain 7 and double crochet in the 3rd ch of the previous chain 4. (ii corner ch 7 spaces, 6 chain four spaces, two eye chain 7 spaces)
Row 5
Concatenation iii and make a total of 10 double crochets (counting your chain iii) into the chain 7 space. *Single crochet into the next chain 4 space, chain 4* repeat between** once, so single crochet into adjacent chain 4 space.
x double crochets into the chain 7 infinite, repeat, x double crochets in the adjacent chain 7 space.
*Single crochet into the next concatenation 4 space, chain 4* echo between** once, then single crochet into next concatenation 4 space. ten double crochets in the terminal chain seven space. (40 dc, 6 sc, 4 ch iv spaces)
Row six
Chain 3 (counts as a stitch), plow, and *brand 1 double crochet in each sew from the previous row. Single crochet into the next chain iv space, chain four, single crochet into side by side concatenation 4 infinite.* Repeat between ** once. And double crochet into each remaining double crochet from the previous row including the acme of your starting chain 3. (forty dc, iv sc, 2 ch 4 spaces)
Row vii
Chain four (counts as a double crochet and chain 1) and double crochet in the side by side stitch, *chain 1, double crochet* repeat between ** until yous reach the chain 4 space, make a single crochet into the concatenation 4 space. Double crochet into the next double crochet stitch then repeat between ** until you accomplish the next chain 4 space.
Again make i single crochet into the chain 4 space, double crochet into the side by side double crochet sew together and echo between ** to the stop of the row, working your final double crochet into the peak of the turning chain 3 from the previous row.
Row 8
Chain 10 (counts as double crochet and chain 7), single crochet in the second chain 1 space of the row, *chain 4, skip a chain infinite and unmarried crochet in the next space* repeat betwixt ** twice to brand a full of 3 chain 4 spaces.
~Then, chain 7 skip 1 chain space, skip the next unmarried crochet and skip the next chain space. Unmarried crochet in the 2nd chain space from the centre single crochet.~
Repeat between ** until you reach the center indicate of your shawl. If you have not even so reached the centre point of your shawl subsequently repeating **, repeat betwixt ~~. If you are at the eye betoken of your shawl, continue on.
Center point: Then, concatenation vii skip a space, single crochet in the adjacent space so repeat, chain vii, skip a space, single crochet into the side by side chain 1 space.
Echo the three chain iv instructions and/or the chain 7 space instructions until you lot accept one chain ane space left. Chain 7 and make 1 double crochet in the 3rd concatenation of your turning chain 4 from the previous row. (2dcs, two, ch 7 spaces, 17 scs, 12 ch four spaces and 2 center point ch 7 spaces)
Row 9
Make ten double crochets in every chain seven space. And piece of work (1 single crochet, chain 4)x2 ane single crochet, across each gear up of 3 concatenation 4 spaces.
Row 10
Brand one double crochet in each double crochet from the previous row. Work 1 single crochet, concatenation 4, 1 single crochet beyond each fix of 2 chain iv spaces.
Repeat
Echo rows 7-ten until your shawl is as long as you'd like or until you run out of yarn. Fasten off after completing a "row vii" row for the most flattering edge to your project.
